After the quarantine, how about a week-end or some holidays in the Brittany region - Bretagne in French

After the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, let's go completely to the West of France to the Bretagne. Also a very interesting region, with lots of natural landscapes to discover, architectural heritage to visit, delicious specialities to eat, and various activities. Let's go !

"They may be famous because of a school of painting, or legends that still spark our imagination, or because of their natural heritage or outstanding architecture. From locks to towpaths, from headlands that defy the waves to legendary tides, come and explore these iconic sites that are part of Brittany’s DNA." Office du Tourisme Bretagne

A wonderful nature
Whether it's the the Crozon peninsula, the famous Pink Granite Coast (la Côte de Granit Rose), the Canals of Brittany, or Carnac, known throughout the world for its unique rows of ancient standing stones (les Menhirs) you will enjoy beautiful landscapes, not mentioning the seaside on the Atlantic Ocean, with the low and the high tides.
Many islands (Îles) also, such as l'Île de Bréhat, L'ïle de Batz, Belle-île-en-Mer, L'ïle d'Ouessant, to name some of them.

The architectural heritage is also very present
If you go to Bretagne, you definitely will have pleasure in visiting the Mont St Michel, which is surrounded with water, when it's high tide.

The other famous specialities are the galettes (salty crepes) and the crêpes (sweet). In any town, in many villages, you will find a crêperie where you will be able to eat 1, 2, maybe 3 galettes/crêpes, and for the adults, you will drink it with Cider in a bowl (bolée de cidre).
You will also hear about the Kouign-amann, with a lot of butter, and the biscuits called palets bretons. You will find the recipe in the French Easy Cuisine.

Many castles offer activities with kids like the Château de Kergroadez : family escape games. kids can also be costumed in princess or knight, the Château le Rocher Portail, close to the Mont St Michel : treasure hunt, a mystery secret passage .
Bretagne is also a region with festivals, where you eat and dance.
The region offers also a "behind the scene" tour of "Made in Brittany" products.
"Whether they manufacture biscuits or preserves, are involved in salt mining or ship building, the local industries and craftsmen of Brittany open their doors to share their manufacturing secrets with you. The morsels at the Biscuiterie of St Brieuc, discover the power of algae in Roscoff, or the canning factory la Belle Iloise in Quiberon."
With the ocean, with waves and wind, and with a rather flat region, you can practise lots of activities, like fishing, surfing, wind-surfing, kite surfing, body board, stand-up paddle, sailing ; there's a famous sailing school called Les Glénans.

NB : We sometimes have a lot of rain and wind. Always take something warm and something which keeps you dry. Even when the weather is like that, it's great fun. And if it's warm and sunny, it's also great fun, you just will just not use these extra cloths!
